From Monday, April 14th to 16th 2025, 60 high school students and 15 teachers will have the opportunity to explore the world of robotics in an engaging hands-on workshop designed to spark curiosity and innovation. Hosted at the Microsoft Africa Development Center (ADC), this workshop will bring together students from Nairobi School, Alliance Girls High School, Starehe Girls, Starehe Boys, Moi Girls and Excellence Schools who are passionate or curious about technology, coding, and the future of artificial intelligence.

Chipurobo, an expert in robotics training, will lead the learning sessions, while eKitabu will provide access to a Learning Management System and learning materials. Microsoft is supporting the initiative as a key sponsor, providing both the venue and resources to ensure an impactful experience.

“Seeing students—especially those who may not have considered STEM as a path—light up when they realize they can code, build, and solve real-world problems is what drives me. It’s about creating a future where African youth are not just consumers of technology but innovators and leaders shaping the digital world,” Kevin Irungu, Co-founder at Chipurobo Center.

Kevin Irungu believes that robotics goes beyond assembling machines—it is a fusion of creativity, resilience, and critical thinking. Through this workshop, students will gain hands-on experience in coding, engineering concepts, and artificial intelligence, equipping them with essential skills for the future job market.

As governments and global economies increasingly prioritize bridging the STEM opportunity gap, initiatives like this workshop play a crucial role in providing mentorship and practical learning experiences to students who may not have access to such resources.

By empowering young girls and boys in STEM, we are shaping a future where African youth are not just consumers of technology but innovators and industry leaders. This workshop is more than just an event—it is a stepping stone toward building a generation that will define the future of robotics and AI.
